This is a star plot of crime rates in the US taken from: http://www.math.yorku.ca/SCS/Gallery/images/starcrim2.gif
The star plot is a way of displaying multivariate data. Each observation is represented as a "start" and the length of the rays are made in proportion to the size of that variable.

CORRELATION MATRIX
This is a correlation matrix taken from: http://www.kltprc.net/policynotes/Gifs/Tab_005A_4.gif
This is a type of map that shows correlation over several variables. The diagonal elements within are always equal to 1.0
SIMILARITY MATRIX
This similarity matrix shows the temporal similarity of a group of 512 photos and is taken from: http://www.fxpal.com/systems/MediaAnalysis/sim10000.gif
This type of map is a matrix of numbers that represents similarity between data points.
STEM AND LEAF PLOT
This is a stem and leaf plot of infant mortality rates in Western Africa taken from: http://mainland.cctt.org/mathsummer/JosephBond/StemAndPlots/images/table2.gif
This is a way of graphically displaying a group of numbers. The last number is on the right and is usually the leaf, the other numbers are on the left and form the "stem."
BOX PLOT
This is a box plot of Total Metric Scores from June of 1995 taken from: http://www.epa.gov/volunteer/stream/images/fig64.jpg
Box plots are convenient ways of graphing data through five number summaries. These numbers include the smallest observation, quartile 1, median, quartile 3, and highest observation.

HISTOGRAM
This is a histogram showing the number of weeks waiting time for oral contraceptive taken from: http://escience.anu.edu.au/lecture/cg/CGIntroduction/Data/histogram.gif
A histogram is a graphical display of tabulated frequencies, shown using bars. It differs from a bar chart in that it is the area that shows measurement rather than the height of the bar.

PARALLEL COORDINATE GRAPH
This is a parallel coordinate graph from: http://www.math.yorku.ca/SCS/Gallery/images/parallel-coords.gif
A paralllel coordinate graph shows continuous lines in "n-dimensional space." Each parallel coordinate graph shows infinite amounts of data.
